Autumn on Phillip Island

Churchill Island Easter and School Holiday Activities

Every Easter and Victorian school holidays, Churchill Island is the centre of activities for the whole family.

Over the Easter weekend from Friday March 29 until Sunday March 31, Phillip Island Nature Parks (PINP) will entertain everyone with events such as a scavenger hunt (find the Eastern barred bandicoot’s house), high tea with Misty the penguin, live music by various artists from 12.30pm daily, face painting ($2), chainsaw carving (Saturday and Sunday), wine tasting, kids nature art and puppet workshops, multiple sessions of farm activities (at 10.30am and 2.00pm) plus lots more.

Activities are included in your Churchill Island entry ticket.

During the school holidays, the following farm activities will continue:

10.30am Blacksmithing

11.15am-12.15pm Wagon rides (only on weekends and public holidays, $7 per ticket)

2.10pm Cow Milking

2.30pm Sheep Shearing

2.45pm Working Dogs

3.00pm Whip Cracking

Plus, the kids' activity table in the Churchill Island Visitor Centre will have a selection of colouring, dot to dot and word search activities.

Still have plenty of energy?!

Try a walk around Churchill Island. There are 2 walks, both starting near the entry gate at the Churchill Island Visitor Centre. Take in great views over Westernport Bay and see the famous twisted Moonah trees – remnants of the original vegetation and some over 500 years old.

The 5km Island Loop will take about one and a half hours, while the shorter 2 km North Point Loop needs about one hour.

During the walks, look for birdlife such as Cape Barren geese, masked lapwings, pied oyster catchers, cormorants, egrets and herons and more.

You might come across blue-tongued lizards sunning themselves on the path.

And don’t forget to stock up with goodies at the Churchill Island Farmers Market on Saturday April 6. Not only are there lots of stalls, take in some live music and tasty food and coffee and relax on the lawns.

Bandicoot Discovery Tours

Phillip Island Nature Parks has brought back Churchill Island Bandicoot Discovery Tours on Friday March 29 to Sunday March 31.

Join an exciting spotlight walk to observe Eastern barred bandicoots foraging and going about their nightly adventures in the wild.

The guided tours begin at sunset and last 2 hours. Encounter this amazing nocturnal marsupial and discover its fascinating story. Once declared Extinct in the Wild, the Eastern barred bandicoot is now thriving on Churchill and Phillip Islands thanks to a conservation recovery program.

Book tickets through Phillip Island Nature Parks.
